Lifting Equipment Compliance and Upgrade Project

ARP has built extensive experience in the engineering and design of lifting equipment. We provide clients with a cost-effective and thorough service that ensures lifting systems are designed, verified, and maintained to the highest standards of safety, quality, and reliability.
Project Overview+

ARP has built extensive experience in the engineering and design of lifting equipment.

One of our clients recently commissioned ARP to complete a full engineering audit of critical lifting equipment and devices in their Assembly plant. This is a good example of ARP assisting clients that are proactive in improving safe working practices but need detailed technical advice to achieve their safety goals.

ARP was able to analyse and verify equipment using Finite Element analysis to model and test existing lifting devices to current standards. From this analysis we would either provide our client with Certificates of compliance or recommendations for modification.

This project ultimately served as a risk reduction exercise for our client who can now operate the plant in the knowledge that they are using compliant lifting devices that are fit for purpose, safe to use and clearly marked with the appropriate Working Load Limits (WLL). ARP also provided our client with advice on ongoing maintenance requirements and how to continue to manage their system to not only ensure compliance but also to enable them to reinforce their commitment to safety in the workplace.

Audit and Assessment+

Our work began with a comprehensive audit of all lifting equipment throughout the facility. Each device was assessed against Worksafe requirements and relevant Australian Standards, with a detailed report prepared outlining its condition and compliance status. The equipment was then categorised and prioritised according to the level of non-compliance, frequency of use, and operational importance. This process gave the client a clear pathway for rectification and renewal of their lifting assets.

Engineering and Design+

Following the audit, ARP completed detailed engineering assessments to determine which lifting devices should be replaced, modified, or tested for continued use. Using Finite Element Analysis (FEA), our mechanical engineers analysed the strength and performance of key equipment and identified areas requiring reinforcement or redesign. In-house design capabilities allowed ARP to model solutions quickly, optimise performance, and ensure each unit met applicable safety and compliance requirements.

Outcome+

The project resulted in several lifting devices being replaced with updated, compliant systems, while others were modified or successfully re-certified following testing and analysis. At completion, the client’s facility achieved full compliance with current standards, significantly improving workplace safety. Operators and maintenance staff now have confidence that all lifting equipment within the facility is safe, reliable, and fit for ongoing use.
