Drill Rig Components

ARP have built a significant reputation for the detailed engineering and analysis of drill rigs. Drill rigs play a very important role in the economy of Australia, from being used in remote locations to drill for bore water to providing mining companies with the equipment to scope and out and identify the ore bodies that go on to produce the worlds critical industrial minerals.
Project Overview+

Our client requested a detailed engineering analysis of a number of drill rig components to enable the increase the capacity of their drill rig design. This included a dump slide, rotation head and breakout foot. Due to the extremely high loads experienced in drill rig operation this is not a task that can be guessed. The high torque and pull-out forces must be carefully considered in combinations expected in operation. ARP undertake this type of project utilising in depth Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to rigorously model the components for the recommendation of design upgrades and capacity increases. Drill rig capacity increases are commonly requested nowadays as clients demand greater and greater drill depths to achieve their aims. ARP can facilitate these upgrades and give our clients great confidence in their asset.

Outcome+

The drill rig was successfully upgraded and has had multiple units manufactured which now operate all over Australia. A great example of ARP using powerful in-house engineering analysis to deliver high value technical solutions for our clients.
