The project required the conversion of an existing car park area into clinical spaces suitable for healthcare use. Change of building use is becoming more popular with the repurposing of commercial building across Australia as it often avoids the large capital cost constructing the building shell. ARP was engaged to provide complete engineering design and documentation across all building services, ensuring compliance with the standards required for medical environments.
Working within the constraints of a limited ceiling cavity, ARP developed a wide-gauge ducting solution that allowed HVAC systems to be installed efficiently without encroaching on room space. Structural engineering works included the design and certification of lifting points and verification of their working load limits to ensure safe operation within the facility.
By managing all engineering disciplines in-house, ARP achieved a coordinated and integrated design outcome. Each service, structural, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fire, was engineered to align with the others, reducing conflicts during construction and ensuring a smooth installation process.
The completed facility successfully transformed an area previously used as a car park into a safe , compliant and efficient medical environment. ARP’s comprehensive approach provided the client with a cohesive design package that delivered functionality and long-term client satisfaction.
