The scope of work involved assessing the vehicle’s chassis and overall load-bearing capacity to support a small drilling rig system. ARP was responsible for developing a design that maintained the vehicle’s functionality and off-road capability. The design also had to withstand the structural integrity under drilling loads.
Using advanced finite element analysis (FEA), ARP engineers modelled the complete vehicle and rig assembly to evaluate stress distribution and deflection under operating conditions. This analysis informed the design of a reinforced mounting system that provided strength and rigidity without unnecessary weight penalties.
The final design was a weight-optimised solution that balanced performance, safety, and ease of manufacture. The modular layout allows the drill rig to be removed or transferred to other compatible vehicles with minimal modification, offering flexibility for future field operations.
The completed design delivered a practical and durable vehicle mounted drill rig that met all client requirements for mobility, reliability, and structural compliance. ARP’s engineering ensured that the vehicle retained it’s robustness while accommodating a specialised drilling platform suited to demanding field environments.
