The project involved assessing the capacity of the existing steel roof to support frames installed to suspend performers during a corporate circus event. ARP evaluated the roof’s ability to accommodate both static and dynamic loads from the truss and performers, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards. The engineering was required to verify that the roof could safely bear significant additional loads, including the self-weight of the truss and forces from the restraint system and suspended performers.
The existing roof structure, measuring approximately 15m by 13m, consists of three trusses spaced 6.6m apart. The existing trusses are tubular steel structure. We calculated the additional loads imposed by the new truss system and performers, including:
• Self-weight of the new truss: supported at three points on each truss.
• Restraint system: vertical load and horizontal load.
• Suspended performers.
Ensuring the steel structure could safely accommodate these additional loads was the primary focus.
After completing the evaluation, we provided a detailed report to our client. This is something that ARP does for all projects and clients. Our use of Space Gass and adherence to Australian Standards ensured that all statutory and legislative standard requirements were met. This provided Trumpet Events with a reliable and secure platform for the corporate circus event, and the confidence that they could provide a spectacular performance without incident.
Trumpet Events is known for delivering seamless and unforgettable experiences, and ARP’s contribution helped ensure the event met the highest safety and performance standards.
The training rooms, where sailing lessons and other activities will take place, will be supported by portal frames. These frames create open, flexible spaces without internal columns, providing
maximum functionality.
The canteen roof is designed to be lightweight yet strong enough to handle environmental factors like wind and rain. Steel trusses provide the necessary support, ensuring durability and aesthetic appeal.
